What is a semi-conductor? It’s generally produced of materials with special electrical resistance (it is between the resistance of a conductor and a non-conductor). Variations of temperature or added admixtures also affect the electrical resistance. The term “impurities” refers to the other substances mixed to the material. Semi-conductors are defined as thyristors of type-n and type-t due to the components of finished material. Diodes and transistors are manufactured of these two variants of semi-conductors. Today silicon is eventually becoming the most wide spread material for manufacturing semi-conductors. In order to send the process of electrical current in simply one direction diodes are necessary. They are made of semiconductor substance. There is a piece of (positive) combination, - (negative) construction and pn-transfer known as barrier level in each diode. Diodes produce electrical schemes converting between direct and alternating current. As diodes let current go just in one direction only a part of the processes or cycle is completed. Rectifier is the word for such a construction. Concerning the light diodes that figure as LED, they are applied to get light at low voltages avoiding producing warmth. These days specialists have LED light diodes as the light fixing the on mode of various electronic devices. The extent of thyristors production was started by Moore’s law. What is the most important factor to manufacture complicated power semiconductor devices at smaller prices? That’s lithography. For optical lithography is today actual no more, there’s these days a search for alternate technologies. These days ultraviolet lithography and nano-imprint lithography are known to be the most suitable substitutes to optical one. There are more potential variants. Like x-ray lithography and electron beam lithography today. Read the rest of this entry »
